Re: DIY: Covering the door panels

i got the fabric at jo ann fabrics. just save your receipt because i am going to have to get more fabric and they don't have that pattern at the store but if you type the SKU# of the fabric (found on the receipt) on their website you can get more of the same pattern

Re: DIY: Covering the door panels

since you did a nice job, can you do mines? . . . . . .

also, you can use a small paint roller to smooth out and contour the fabric on to the panels too.

Re: DIY: Covering the door panels

ok so I tried to do this and lets just say it has not worked out so good for me. I tried one faberic and the glue leaked threw everywhere so I went and bought some other faberic that looked like sbkob2447 and it worked better but leaked a little bit. How did you get it without the wrinkles and how did you get the gue to not seap threw? help!!!! because I think it will look good when finished.

Re: DIY: Covering the door panels

i put glue on the door panel and on the fabric and it didn't leak. it was a little moist when i was doing it, but i laid the fabric down and tucked and by the time i was cutting the fabric it was dry!!!

Re: DIY: Covering the door panels

honestly... i think you're not stretching it well. here's what i did... when i laid the fabric over, i laid it on the bottom part first, then stretched it up towards the top (towards the window). it's easier to lay it flat over the bottom, and then stretch upwards to minimize folds and wrinkles. let me know if that helps

also, spray the entire door panel w/the 3M-90... only ONE LAYER of spray glue! then spray a LIGHT layer of the adhesive on the fabric and then lay it down and start stretching upwards like i said. Also, I'd recommend a thicker taping job to minimize the glue on the doors.
