This shows how to install airbag delete resistors into the spiral cable connector under the dash. There is another DIY that shows how to put them into the hub, but sometimes that's a little difficult because of lack of space. So if you made the choice to loose your airbag and run an aftermarket steering wheel here is another option on turning off the SRS warning light.

You will need two resistors 3 Ohms each and some 20 gauge wire to make plug-in harness.
Solder wire to the resistor:



Tin other ends with solder and use flat section of the pliers to flatten them:







Use heatshrink to insulate everything. This is a finished harness (you need two):



Unplug the connector from the spiral cable:



Insert resitor harnesses:



Secure everything with zipties or electrical tape and tuck in a safe location under the steeing column cover:



Use normal precaution: disconnect the battery before working on the car. As always, you understand what you are doing and it's your decision whether to follow this DIY or not.

Very nice write-up. Has anyone done this for the seats though? I need to pull my passenger front seat and don't want the airbag light on in the dash. Would also be nice if the driver airbag worked properly still.

I believe you have 06.5, right? The passenger seat system on those includes 4 sensors, belt buckle switch and ECU. You should be able to remove the ECU from the seat along with wires and leave it connected to the car. 4 sensors and belt buckle switch can be replaced with resistors if you don't want to leave them all connected.

Yeah, I could pull them from the seat but they are part of the permanent structure and not removeable. The seat won't be out all the time so I'm looking for a solution that would be swappable. I was thinking of finding a second seat and pull the sensors from the second seat instead.

To make a quick swap harness you'd need a donor seat out of 06.5 with at least wiring harness and occupant classification ECU in it. Sensors can be substituted with 1 MOhm resistors and for belt buckle you need 330 Ohm if i remember correctly. Factory repair manual lists all the values, you can double check there.

Thanks, I'll be looking for a donor seat on car-part or if anyone's selling their stock ones. Forgot to mention, I have the regular 2006, not the 6.5 and do have a wiring diagram for it. I only have the repair manual for the 2004.

Didn't i see audio controls on the steering wheel in your car? That woud make it 06.5. Where is your pass airbag light located? If it's under the owen then it's the last version (after Dec '05 production).

In any case the values should be same (1M and 330).

Is there any wattage rating on the resistors you used?

I used 1/4 Watt, but you can use higher rated resistors like 1/2 or 1 Watt. They are just larger in size.

My guess is that resistors will probably be of the same value for the passenger airbag.

This DIY shows one of the ways not to have the SRS light On due to the previous removal of the driver side airbag. Installing the resistors does not take away from the safety. You may want to read the first post. I am not telling anyone they should disable SRS or parts of it. As far as legailty, that depends on the use of the car (racetrack, show, offroad or street) and local laws.
