Just figured I'd throw this up to maybe help someone save some money on the crazy ripoff that is the stock spoiler. Let's see....420 shipped, painted, installed vs. 150 shipped, painted, installed. I got mine off spoilerexpress.com and at first was disappointed at the mounting setup. It is only one screw and has no double sided tape on it.
But after thinking it over, and drilling, it worked out pretty well. It comes with foam around the mounting surface and these strips of paper that are meant to mark where to drill the holes.
1. step is remove the foam, it makes the spoiler sit way too high off the body and makes marking the hole much harder. This was the longest part of the process and most annoying. Pic 1 of the foam that it came with....
2. Put a screw or something in the strip of paper's hole and then in the threaded hole in the spoiler. Notice the affect of scraping the foam, can't be helped. Pic 2...
3. Position the spoiler on the car as desired and have 2 friends hold it in place while you tape down the edges of the paper mounting strip guide. This is what it will look like after you remove the spoiler leaving the strips of paper behind. Pic 3...
4. Mark the spot under the screw and drill it out the progressively bigger drill bits, then primer the hole. It's also a good idea to have a flex magnet that can clean up the drill shavings. Here's a pic of one side drilled. Pic 4..
5. Here's the screw placement and shows access you get to the screw with tailgate up. Pic 5...
One tip I have is replacing the Phillips screw with a bolt, I may do this at a later date. I didn't use any double sided tape because I don't see how you can slide the spoiler around to line up the holes. I think the angle of the spoiler is a bit higher then stock but I like it and it makes a subtle difference, to each their own. Hope it helps...
