| I would like to add one thing to this. When you are all finished use Protect All. Its a product I use on my dirt bikes when I wash them. It gives a nice protective coating to everything and it helps to repel dust. It has an antistatic property to it. Keeps my Engine looking nice for a long time and when its time to wash it I usaually can get away with just a quick rinse.

sid | You're always welcome Sid, I'll ring you up next time we start fiddling around in the garage. We did Pat's engine compartment, sway bar bushings, shifter bushing, clear side marker lights, adjusted the throttle cable play and mounted his new strut tower bar. A busy day indeed! |

| Re: DIY Cleaning the engine compartment It's important to keep up on it as well. The more often you clean it the easier it is to keep clean.

| Re: DIY Cleaning the engine compartment Just want to give this a friendly BUMP! Its winter time, so get ready to start cleaning under the hood again! (well, everyone who has winter! Unlike some of these surfers here.... sheshh.)
BTW. I found (and as dumb as this is going to sound) tire foam does wonders on firewalls and strut towers. The areas that are kind hard to get too. Foams up, takes most of the dirt with it, and with a towel or rag, you can just whip it clean and dry.
Just as a test, a few years ago when taring down one of my project cars to be parted (88 Turbo GT Sunbird 5spd) I removed the cam carrier from the block. Using just tire cleaning foam, I was able to clean the oil soaked cam carrier and cam cover with just the foam. I wish I still had the pics, but this was 2 computers ago, and like 4 cars ago. lol |
