And if the sensor's throw codes, you just swap sensors from the stock TB |

| Re: DIY: 1zz-fe throttle body swap So, I'm over 50 miles with no CEL now. I think it threw the code as it was getting a lot more air after the ram air intake was on. I started it up this morning and it was off and I have completed over the 50 miles cycle today with no problems at all. I think these TB's may be right on the border of throwing errors with our ECU. I'll keep everyone updated if it comes back up again.
My cousin has a code reader too, so I'll swing by his house sometime and have him dump the codes if it comes back up. |

| Re: DIY: 1zz-fe throttle body swap Cool, can't wait for mine to arrive. I'm probably gonna weld up the area around idle air bypass and try to find longer studs.
Once i hook everything up i'll see on my Scangauge what the difference in TPS reading it makes, if any. |

| Re: DIY: 1zz-fe throttle body swap We'll see, i know at least one boss will have to be grounded off cuz i have an auto and the dipstick will be in the way.
Cody, i think if the larger TB is borderline throwing Check engine light, you may need the SRI or CAI that has PCV inlet hose after the MAF, not before- like most of them. |

| Re: DIY: 1zz-fe throttle body swap I was thinking along the same lines as PCH. I would think the studs on the intake manifold could be removed. Just take a look at the OBX throttle body spacer. That comes with replacement allen head bolts. So you can probably just remove the stock studs and use bolts in place of the studs. (Or you could cut down your own studs from allthread if you were so inclined.)
Anyone have a good picture of the factor manifold so we can see how the stock studs are installed? Threaded vs. pressed. |

| Re: DIY: 1zz-fe throttle body swap They would be easy to replace. The studs have a square head on them and just slide onto the manifold from the side. I just chose to keep mine stock and modify the TB. |

| Re: DIY: 1zz-fe throttle body swap Sounds like new bolts it is then. Or at least one. Probably much easier for most people than dremeling away at the 1ZZ throttle body.
Guess it is time to pick up a throttle body and add it to the pile of parts I have to install. Especially now the lingering CEL I had seems to be taken car of. |

| Re: DIY: 1zz-fe throttle body swap You can buy the 1ZZ TB gasket brand new for under $5; this may make a cleaner install than trying to cut out your own. It could also act as a nice template for EZ to make the waterjet sandwich plates.
I checked the local junkyard's (Pull-a-part) online inventory and they do not have any 98-02 Corollas. They have a cool feature that allows you to register specific vehicles and receive notification if and when they receive one. |
