| Im a xB owner and been so for a month...
Well i got a shadow mica xb guys but i been real busy and just havent had time... to annouce it.
Its been a life roller coaster lately and i was doing good for a while but its a bit overwelming now at least at this current momment. I think ill be okay i realize that i just need to slow down and focus to get some of my goals out of the way and finished.
I dont have time to search the forums but if osmeone can help me for some reason my xb sometimes takes around 3-5 seconds to start mainly in the morning every once in a while. I noticed it twice now.

Don’t you live in a cold climate? Could it just be the normal cold weather starting reluctance? Otherwise I’m clueless.

| congratulations!!!!!
on the problem, do you mean it crank but won't fire up? it must be cold out there, or your battery don't have enough cranking power.
Best bet is to take it to dealer, should be under warranty. | |

| Haha Tommy it so SO hard not to spill the beans when you told me when you got it! You sly devil! lol. Glad to see we can post up now about it! Mega congrats man.
Starting may be cold, or maybe you have a weak battery connection. Shouldnt be anything big though. I wouldnt worry too much unless it stops starting all together.

| Congrats, Tommy, and welcome to the family.
As to the slow starts, I have NO idea. My box has always been a quick starter, even with temps in the teens. Has all this been on just one tank of fuel? Sometimes, in the past with other cars, I've gotten a tank of fuel with problems - low volatility, water, whatever - and had problems with other cars that went away with the next tank. (Some I had to help along with a gas dryer - I liked "Heet" and it would often make a bad tankful work OK. Besides helping to mix the water better, it increases volatility, IIRC.) Just an idea.

| cold starting:
check spark plug condition
air filter cleanliness
and battery output.
beyond that grab a multi meter and check the ignition coil output. i had a similar problem on my sportbike a while back...turned out to be a combination of a ignition coil going out, caused by low amperage from my battery, and such.

| Hey Tommy I read good things about you on the site. I am new to the site but I have owned my xb a couple months now. I don't know how cold it gets where you are but where I am it gets to be -20 or lower some nights. I noticed my xb cranks longer when it's cold outside but it always starts and I don't have a block heater. | |

| Yeah, gasoline has a hard time vaporizing sufficiently in cold weather, which is one reason "winter mixes" contain a lot more volatiles. Even at that, though starting is often a little slower when both the intake air and the engine are really cold.
